Chili is a very popular vegetable in my country, and proper consumption of chili is very beneficial to human health. Mostly, we may grow chili from seeds, and then transplant seedlings from seedling trays into plant pots or in the ground. However, we can also raise chili using the method of grafting. Grafting can effectively improve the yield and variety of peppers, thereby increasing planting profits. I’ll introduce three main methods of grafting chili.

Cleft Graft
The cleft graft is further divided into the full cleft and half cleft. A full cleft is to cut all the stem sections of the rootstock seedlings. This method is suitable for the situation where the scion is similar in size to the rootstock seedlings. The half cleft graft is to cut the stem section of the rootstock seedlings about the horizontal stem, which is more suitable for the thin scion. The scion of the cleft grafting method is far away from the ground, the probability of being invaded by pathogenic bacteria in the soil is small, the disease prevention ability is strong, and the grafting survival rate is high. When the cleft method is used, the pepper scion should have about 3 true leaves without pests and diseases, the rootstock should have about 4 true leaves, and the height should be kept above 10cm. However, the procedure of the cleft method is cumbersome and inefficient, so it is suitable for small-scale operations.

Cut Graft
The cut graft is to insert a small hole about the size of the scion at the top or upper end of the rootstock seedling with a bamboo stick. Then, after cutting the bottom of the pepper scion, we should insert it directly into the small hold on the rootstock seedling. The cut method can increase the contact area between the rootstock and the scion, thereby improving the survival rate of the scion. Moreover, there are not many processes in the cut graft, and the implementation efficiency is relatively high. However, for the need for a smaller cutting, most of them are mainly in the seedling stage. The number of true leaves of the scion should be kept at about 2 pieces, the rootstock should be about 3 pieces, and the height should be 6 cm.

Casing Graft
Casing graft is a grafting method that has gradually become popular over the years. It is an optimized grafting method based on the sticking method. The fixing method is to use grafting clips, while casing graft uses a casing with a length of about 1.5 cm. The plastic sleeve has an inward elastic tension, which can ensure close contact between the rootstock and the scion. Moreover, the elasticity of the casing is relatively large. and as the grafted seedling grows, its grafting place will continue to expand. The plastic sleeve can continuously increase the opening as it expands. The plastic sleeve can continuously increase the opening as it expands, and finally, fall off automatically, and its management efficiency can be greatly improved.
